Seventeen was first launched in 1944 and was the first magazine with editorial just for teenagers. Walter Annenberg was the founder of Seventeen and also founded TV Guide in 1953. It is currently published by Hearst corporation, which is the publisher of Cosmopolitan and Redbook. The pages of Seventeen cover the topics teenage women are interested in: fashion, beauty, health, relationships and more.

Readers will find latest fashion trends, with tips for dressing for different body types and creating a personal style. Seventeen also offers hair, make-up and beauty advice, featuring bargain products. The magazine also focuses on health, with articles on body image, medical news, diet and fitness techniques. The "Real Life" section offers advice regarding relationships with friends, family and guys, as well as relevant personal and social issues for women age 15 to 21. J-14 and Teen Vogue are other available magazines for teenage women.
